The European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) attended and actively contributed to the 2025 General Assembly of Nets4Dem, held in Brussels at the Democratic Society offices and joined by members across Europe in hybrid format. This marked our first participation as full members of the network, following our official membership confirmation earlier this year.

The General Assembly, held on 14 October 2025, served as a key moment for collective reflection and agenda-setting for the year ahead. The meeting brought together democratic practitioners, researchers, and policymakers committed to strengthening participatory and innovative democracy across Europe.

“It was a pleasure to join Nets4Dem’s General Assembly for the first time as full members. The level of exchange, inclusiveness, and strategic discussion on future priorities reaffirmed our decision to engage actively in the network”, said Bojan Kordalov, Director of Policy and Communication in ECE Brussels, who represented the Centre on the Nets4Dem GA in Brussels.

The half-day working format included three strategic debates on: 1) What matters - values and shared priorities; 2) Governance and future scenarios - shaping the next phase of Nets4Dem; 3) Annual priorities - co-defining the 2025-2026 action agenda.

These dialogues set the stage for the launch of working groups, where ECE Brussels will contribute particularly to the Democracy and Technology group and other cross-cutting EU-level initiatives, focusing on the ECE Brussels expertise intersection of democratic governance, EU accession, digital tools, including Artificial Inteligence (AI).

ECE Brussels extends its thanks to the Nets4Dem Secretariat and the broader membership for the warm welcome and looks forward to further engagement, including through policy contributions, joint initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities.
