Join us online: ECE Brussels contributes to the ALDA webinar on the 2025 EU Enlargement Package
The European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) will take part in the online webinar “EU - Western Balkans Enlargement: Building Our Common European Future”, organised by ALDA – the European Association for Local Democracy, on 11 December 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00 CET.
The event is organised in the framework of the BOOST: Balkans for Optimising Opportunities, Sustainability and Transformation of Civil Society initiative and brings together civil society organisations, local authorities and BOOST grantees from across the Western Balkans. The discussion will focus on the 2025 EU Enlargement Package, its key findings and implications for the region, as well as the role of local actors and civil society in shaping a shared European future.
ECE Brussels will be represented by Bojan Kordalov, Director of Policy and Communications at the European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) and a senior expert in strategic communication, EU visibility, digital transformation and AI literacy. Bojan will contribute to the session titled: “Making enlargement understandable and relevant: Effective communication strategies”.
In his intervention, he will address how EU enlargement can be communicated in a clearer, more relatable and transparent way, linking Brussels-level policies with local realities in EU candidate countries. The focus will be on practical communication approaches that strengthen trust, public engagement and understanding of the enlargement process among citizens, local authorities and civil society.
The webinar will also feature contributions from Monika Csáki (Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood - DG ENEST, European Commission), Monika Zajkova (Member of Parliament, North Macedonia and Member of the National Council for EU Integration), Sara Arslanagić (Deputy President, Municipal Council of Centar–Sarajevo), and Anja Bosilkova-Antovska (Head of Policy and Advocacy, BCSDN). The discussion will be moderated by Emir Ćorić, Policy and Community Engagement Officer at ALDA, and will bring together perspectives from EU institutions, national and local authorities, and civil society across the Western Balkans.
Additionally, the webinar agenda envisages covering topics such as reform pathways, civic space, and the role of municipalities in the enlargement journey.
