The European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) today held a meeting with Andriy Zayats, Ambassador and Head of the Council of Europe Liaison Office to the European Union, and Aleksandra Celar, Programme Advisor on Programmatic Cooperation. The meeting focused on shared priorities such as promoting democratic governance, strengthening human rights and inclusion, advancing media and digital literacy, and fostering open and transparent communication across Europe and the EU candidate countries.

Both sides recognised the importance of building stronger synergies between the Council of Europe and Brussels-based think tanks in communicating European values and addressing societal challenges through dialogue, education, and public engagement.

The European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) was represented by Dr Aleksandar Ivanovski, President of the Executive Board, and Bojan Kordalov, Director for Policy and Communications. The discussion also reflected ECE Brussels’ growing role as a Brussels-based policy and communication platform connecting EU institutions, civil society, and academia across Europe and the EU candidate countries.

ECE Brussels expresses its appreciation for the warm welcome and constructive exchange with the Council of Europe team and looks forward to continuing this dialogue and developing future cooperation opportunities.
