ECE Brussels basic info

The European Centre of Excellence (ECE Brussels) is an independent European think tank based in Brussels, committed to promoting good governance, democratic development, and excellence in communication, research, and policymaking across Europe and EU candidate countries. ECE Brussels actively supports digital transparency, the ethical use of emerging technologies and AI, and the advancement of inclusive democratic societies.

Through its initiatives, ECE fosters open and inclusive communication between institutions and citizens, strengthens EU integration efforts, and champions democratic values and public trust. A key component of ECE’s work is building bridges between EU institutions and stakeholders from candidate countries, deepening understanding and support for the EU accession process.

Founded in 2023, ECE advances its mission through strategic partnerships and impactful projects. The organisation regularly facilitates study visits for civil society representatives, academics, and public sector officials from EU candidate countries, connecting them with Brussels-based think tanks, EU institutions, and experts. These visits aim to build trust in the EU accession process, promote evidence-based policymaking, and foster lasting partnerships on key issues.

ECE also works to engage young professionals and emerging leaders from candidate countries, providing them with the skills and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the EU integration process. By creating connections between future leaders and EU stakeholders, ECE enhances democratic resilience and supports the development of an informed, engaged generation committed to a European future.

Since January 2025, ECE has been a member of the European Policy Centre (EPC) network and is in the process of joining the Connect-International network.
